Eugene R Ambroziak

Gene was born November 3, 1947 in Wilkes Barre, PA to the parents of LCDR Eugene and Helen Ambroziak. As part of a Navy family, Gene’s early years were spent living where his father was stationed. The family resided in San Diego, CA, then Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and finally at the Naval Weapons Station Earle, in Leonardo, NJ. When his father retired from the Navy, the family settled in Middletown, NJ. He graduated from Mater Dei High School in Middletown after which he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served as a Staff Sargent during the Vietnam War 1965-1969, lastly with the 4th Civil Engineering Sq (TAC). After being honorably discharged, he enrolled at Newark College of Engineering and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. Following graduation, he was employed by Maccafferi USA, and worked at the district office located in Ramsey, NJ. He remained with Maccafferi specializing in Gabion placement, to assist with erosion control, throughout the Northeastern U.S. until his retirement. Gene enjoyed fishing, golf, and sailing. He was a very skilled craftsman. He designed and built his own home in Campbell Hall, NY and built several seaworthy boats as well as furniture in his spare time. He was a fan of the NY Giants and enjoyed watching golf on television. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed vacationing in Greenport, Long Island, NY. Gene was predeceased by his parents. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Andrea St. Pierre, and her husband, Matthew, of Poughkeepsie, NY, his son Christopher Ambroziak, of New Windsor, NY, his sister Christine Moscatello, and her husband Gilbert, of Stanhope, NJ, and his brother Mark Ambroziak, of Solomons, MD. He was “Pop Pop” to his two grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan St. Pierre of Poughkeepsie, NY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his lifelong best friend, James Powell, of Narrowsburg, NY. As per Gene’s wishes, he will be cremated. Memorial Services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the USO (United States Organizations) or to a VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) of one’s choosing.
