Betty Ann Sutton

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister, Betty, who passed away on February 17, 2021 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown after losing her battle with the devastating disease of Covid. She was 73. Due to restrictions imposed, her family and friends were unable to be with her and comfort her during this time. Betty was born in Middletown, NY on August 12, 1947 to the late Doris Mae Baker & John L. Cieslewitz Jr. and grew up on their family farm in Bullville. She was a 1966 graduate of Pine Bush Central School & went on to graduate from the Middletown State Hospital School of Nursing in 1969. She worked as a registered nurse at the Middletown State Hospital for over 30 yrs. before retiring. Betty enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafting, sewing & needlework, and she stitched many pictures & pillows as gifts. She was a hardworking, fun-loving person with a great sense of humor. She was very loving, thoughtful, kind, and generous. She was quick to make friends & quick with a smile & she would go out of her way to help someone or do a favor. She loved "her girls", Jenny & Kari & her "adopted" grandchildren, Ian, Kaitlynn & Charles. She also loved her special friends, Toni, Heather & Laura who were always so kind to her. She is survived by her sister, Mary Ristau of Pine Bush & Alaska, her brother, John T. Cieslewicz of Middletown, her Aunt, Ann Dibble of Cadosia and several loving cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her cousins, Barbara Campbell and Jamie Dibble and several aunts & uncles. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who were so compassionate when caring for our sister. Also, we would like to thank everyone who reached out to us with their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. It meant so much to us. Visitation will be held from 2-5 on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Martinez-Morse Funeral Home, 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown, NY. Due to NYS restrictions, masks are required & social distancing is requested. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 17 High St. in Bloomingburg, NY. We would like everyone to know we respect their decision regarding attendance due to the circumstances. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Middletown following the mass. Arrangements are made under the direction of the Martinez-Morse Funeral Home.
