Daniela Espiritusanto

It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Daniela Peguero Espiritusanto, a remarkable soul whose life was defined by unconditional love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She peacefully passed away in her sleep, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished forever. Born on December 11, 1934, in Higuey, Dominican Republic, Daniela was proud of her indigenous Taino heritage, which was woven into the fabric of her identity. She was the daughter of Manuelito and Eufemia Peguero, and one of nine siblings—Denny, Amada, Angela, Oliva, Mariola, Felipe, Victor, and Alejandro. Throughout her 91 years, Daniela’s greatest source of pride was her family. She was the loving mother to and survived by Pedro, Angelica, Michael, Patricia, and Steven Espiritusanto, and she dedicated her life to raising them with care, discipline, and love. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family—she was a maternal figure to many, offering guidance, comfort, and support to those around her. Daniela’s culinary talents brought joy and unity to her loved ones. Every exquisite dish she prepared was a reflection of her passion and skill both inside and outside of the kitchen, creating unforgettable memories at every gathering. She also enjoyed watching baseball, loved animals, playing numbers, scratch-off tickets, and caring for her children and grandchildren, always with a generous and loving heart. Her journey took her from her homeland in the Dominican Republic—where she spent the first three decades of her life—to the United States, where she built a new life for her family. She then moved to Monticello, NY; from there to the Bronx where she spent the next three decades of her life; and finally settled in Middletown, NY, where she spent her final years. Daniela’s gentle candor, wisdom, keen sense of humor, and sense of community were evident in everything she did, inspiring all who knew her. Daniela’s legacy is one of tireless devotion and love, acts of service, and strength. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her peaceful passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved. May her soul rest in eternal peace. She will always be remembered with love and gratitude.
