Lonja Stremouchow

Lonja Stremouchow (69), known as Lonnie to friends and family, passed away on 3/28/2026 peacefully at home after battling stage 4 cancer. He was the cherished and devoted partner of Anna Marie Dorgan, with whom he shared more than two decades of love and companionship until her passing in 2014. Their daughter, Ninamarie Stremouchow, stands as a lasting testament to the life and love they built together. Born in Vineland, New Jersey, he was the son of Wladimir Stremouchow and Nina Stremouchow. For over 20 years he worked in a machine shop, Precision Plastics, alongside his father, Wladimir, before moving onto trucking where he retired from driving tractor trailers for Schneider International after 23 years of service. Lonja's name proudly rests in Schneider International's Haul of Fame, honoring 20 consecutive years of safe and dedicated driving behind the wheel without incident. Whether it was tinkering with cars, riding his motorcycle, enjoying time at the beach, going to street fairs, or being out on the water, Lonja was rarely still. The outdoors brought him true happiness, and he embraced every opportunity to be in it. He would often say that staying indoors on a beautiful day was a shame, practically a crime, believing those moments were meant to be enjoyed outside. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and his rare gift for making anyone feel like an old friend, even upon first meeting. He was compassionate, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He spoke openly and honestly, never hiding how he felt. With Lonja, you always knew where you stood, for better or for worse, and that kind of sincerity is a rare gift. He is survived by his daughter Ninamarie Stremouchow, his mother Nina Stremouchow, his siblings George Stremouchow and Ala Singletary, nephew Walter Stremouchow, his dog Rusty, granddog Oreo, as well as many friends. He was predeceased by his wife Anna Marie Dorgan, father Wladimir Stremouchow, and brother John Stremouchow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Grey Muzzle Organization (https://www.greymuzzle.org) in honor of Lonja, who had a special place in his heart for dogs and was saddened by those in shelters waiting for their forever homes.
