Richard "Buddy" Scarano

RICHARD “BUDDY” SCARANO Middletown, New York October 9, 1962-June 13, 2025 Richard “Buddy” Scarano, a retired therapy aide at Middletown Psychiatric Center and a lifelong resident of the area, died peacefully at home with his loving wife Rose by his side on June 13, 2025. He was 62. The son of Louis and the late Bertha Mingolla Scarano, he was born October 9, 1962 in Middletown. Bud was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. He was an outstanding athlete, having participated in baseball, football, and basketball during his school years. He is survived by his wife Rose Alekseew Scarano, at home. He is also survived by son Richard Todd Scarano and his wife Kimberley of Middletown; stepdaughter Sara Nelson and her husband Stephen Berger of Albuquerque, New Mexico; father Louis Scarano Sr. of Newburgh; sister Lisa Hewel of Middletown; brother Louis Scarano Jr. and his wife Gina of Helena, Alabama; brother John Scarano of Newburgh; sister Helene Molzahn and her husband Daniel of Monroe, brother Nicholas Scarano and his wife Lori of Wallkill, and sisters-in-law Barbara Conklin of Middletown, Sue Panaro of North Carolina and Marie Atichson of Florida. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Michele Farrell and Dominic Scarano of Middletown; Christian Farrell of Middletown; Michael Scarano and his wife Katelyn of Beesemer, Alabama; Andrea Molina and her husband Matthew of San Antonio, Texas; Emily Colson and her husband Tim of Walden; Alexis Aguilar and her husband Fernando of Newburgh; Daniel and Dylan Molzahn of Monroe; Eric Scarano and his wife Meghan of Westtown; and Nicholas and Anthony Scarano of Wallkill. Also, his great-nieces and nephews: Jaden, Emory and Owen Farrell of Middletown; Poppy and Piper Scarano of Beesemer, Alabama; Jackson, Chase and Clayton Colson of Walden; Julianna Vasquez and Fernando Aguilar of Newburgh; and London Pagan of Westtown; his pride and joy, grandson Richard Nicholas Scarano of Middletown, and step-grandsons Ivan and Nikolai Berger of Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as his aunts, uncles, and many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Bertha Scarano, brother-in-law Peter Hewel, sister-in-law Audrey Lozier Scarano, and nephew Nicholas Joseph Scarano. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family, as Buddy had wished.
