Henrietta K. Barber

Henrietta Kathleen Barber (Kathy) Nov 5,1930- May 23, 2016 Of Port Jervis, formerly of Modena and Cornwall N.Y. A retired owner of Travel Agency & life long resident of the area passed away May 23rd, at home surrounded by her family. She was 85 The daughter of the late James E. Albert and Laura Tice Albert born Nov 5,1930 in Middletown. She was the widow of the late Peter F Barber. Among her many accomplishments she was active member of the Cornwall united Methodist Church of which she was a certified lay speaker and served 13 years as a delegate to the N.Y. Annual Conference. A “charter” member of The Cornwall Methodist Women, a past President of The Weslyan Service Guild. A past district president of The Hudson West District United Methodist Church, sent as a mission interpreter to Egypt for the New York conference United Methodist Church. A past secretary of Toastmasters International Club #3331, Newburgh District #53. A past President and Vice President of the Business and Professional Women of Newburgh. In honor of charity work on their behalf, she was honored and made blood sister to Three Native American Tribes. (Penobscot-Pene-Cock Montawk, Cherokee, & Schenn Cock). She was given the name Sen-nok-eh, meaning Mother of Life. Survivors include one son Peter J. Barberio & his wife Deborah of Missoula MT. One Daughter Judith A. Barber-Clark of Port Jervis. One brother, Philip T. Albert & his wife Katherine of Mooresville N.C. Four granddaughters, Lucretia Gill, Samara Newkirk, Rebecca Steiner, & Monica Barber. Two grandson, Zachary Barber & Jason Barber. Eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, also several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by Husband Peter F. Barber & infant son Paul David Barber. Three sisters, Elizabeth Moshier, Virginia Churh & Jeanette Baxter. Family statement reads that “Kathy” as known by her family & friends was a caring, giving person. Interested in her community & was a vigorous, outgoing woman. She will be greatly missed. Burial will be private & memorial services will be at the discretion of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to charity of choice. Arrangements under the care of Louis W.
