John J Dino

John James Dino Sr. passed away peacefully on April 9, 2018, at the Valley View Nursing Center in Goshen New York, at the age of 96. The last to survive of eighteen children, John was born on June 28, 1921 in Inwood, Long Island to Pasquale Citadino and Marianna Provensano. John met and married his beloved wife Martha May Hubbard on August 2, 1941. They shared 54 happy years together, before her passing on June 16, 1995. They had three children; Daughters Judith Ann Frankie (Nicholas) of Dover Plains, NY, and Beverly Dino Pierce (Robert) of Baton Rouge, LA; A son John James Dino, Jr. and his wife Laurie of Midway, UT. Along with his children, John is survived by ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. John held various jobs over the years, starting at the Middletown Fur Shop. He also drove a taxi and sold insurance. John and his brother, Oscar, ran a clothing business together, which later led him into managing the woman's clothing department at Lloyd's Shopping Center in Middletown, NY. From there, he worked at Kassel Brothers clothing store, as well as Foellers Men's Shop. John had a passion for cars. His was an avid Antique Auto Club member who was known for proudly driving, and showing, his 1931 Model A Ford known as "J.J". With J.J., he won many awards and trophies. John was also a member of the McQuoid Engine Company for 50 years, where he served as president and organized bingo games. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1097 in Middletown, NY and a life-long member of St. Joseph's Church where he served as an usher for the Saturday evening masses. John served on the Common Council of Middletown, NY as an alderman twice over, as well as president. Visitation will be held on Thursday April 12, 2018 from 4 to 7pm at Morse Funeral Home Inc. located at 33 Railroad Avenue in Middletown, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00am at the St. Joseph Church at 149 Cottage Street in Middletown, NY.
