Lewis Tuthill Powell

Born February 2, 1939 in Middletown, NY, Lewis Tuthill Powell passed from earthly time to Heavenly eternity on May 26, 2017, he was 78 years old. Lew graduated from Middletown High School & OCCC. He was a Licensed Land Surveyor & President of Eustance & Horowitz of Circleville, NY. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict & a member of the American Legion Post 151, Elks Lodge 1097 & NY State Professional Land Surveyors. Lew lived his life with honor. He was intelligent, thoughtful, hardworking & a kind gentleman who believed in helping others & giving back to the community. He loved golf, bowling, Nascar, tinkering in his garage & "projects". He was active in many community organizations & Chairman of many boards. He was a member of Eldred Congregational Church. Lew was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & faithful friend. He loved living at the lake & spending endless runs in the boat with his kids & grand kids; always so patient as each child learned to ski, wakeboard or tube. Everyone fortunate to have known him will cherish his memory, love & friendship. He will be sadly missed by his family & his loving wife Allison (Boyter) Powell, whom he married on Nov 14, 1981 & survives him at home. He is also survived by daughters, Anne Kenworthy (Bill) Nashville, TN, Julie Millard (Glenn) Bloomsburg, PA and Kelly Powell Spring Hill, FL. He was also Daddy-Lew to Jason Mankoo (Sally) Howells, NY, Nikki Macaluso (Heath) Otisville, NY & Dilshad Mankoo-Bowers (John) Yelverton, England. Lew leaves a lifetime of loving memories to grandchildren, Alex, Kristin, Kayla, Ian, Megan, Morgan, Shyla, Mia, Sofia, Jaida, Lauren, Ava, Ella, Callum & Jordan. He is survived by his brothers, Richard Powell (Jean) of Katy, TX & Dale Powell (Flo) of Middletown, NY, nieces & nephews Lew was predeceased by his parents, Frank & Doris Tuthill Powell, sister Janet Julius & her husband Bill & nephew David E. Powell. Memorial Service will be officiated by Rev. Susan Storms at Eldred Congregational Church, 8 Proctor Road, Eldred, NY 12732 on June 11, 2017 at 2pm. This will be a celebration of Lew's life & his girls have requested to please wear something colorful. The family would like to thank the Doctors & Nurses at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, in Hudson, FL for helping Lew pass peacefully, with dignity and respect. Lew was cremated in Florida and will be buried in Wallkill Cemetery NY next to his Grandfather, Charles Guernsey Tuthill with military honors on Monday June 12, 2017at 11 AM.
