Alba I. Russell

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alba Russell on March 15, 2024, at the age of 83. She departed peacefully at home, surrounded by her devoted husband, Robert, and her loving sister, Amanda. Alba leaves behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and a lifetime of cherished memories. Born to Jaime and Francisca Quiñones, Alba was cherished as the youngest among her siblings: Jimmy, Frank, and Amanda. Alba was brought as a baby from Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, and her family settled in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where she was raised. This vibrant neighborhood became an integral part of her upbringing, shaping her character and instilling in her a strong sense of community. Nicknamed "Peewee," she had a passion for bowling and dancing. She enjoyed going to flea markets, camping, music and traveling. Alba's sister Amanda continues to hold her memory close to her heart. She is predeceased by her brothers Frank and Jimmy. Alba was a devoted wife to Robert, with whom she shared 34 years of unwavering love and companionship. Together, they created a warm and loving home, blessed with a beautiful family. Alba leaves behind four children, fourteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she touched profoundly with her love and presence. Her beloved pets, Rusty, Mister, and April brought her much joy. Alba’s impact extended far beyond her immediate family, reaching out to embrace a wide circle of relatives and loved ones who cherished her deeply. Sadly, Alba experienced the loss of her dear son, Billy. The family takes solace in the thought that mother and son are now reunited in eternal peace. Alba’s life was a testament to the values of love, resilience, and family bonds. Her presence will be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those who went before her and those who will carry her spirit into the future. Friends may call Friday, March 22nd from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Martinez-Morse Funeral Home, 33 Railroad Ave. Middletown, NY with a graveside service to follow on Saturday, March 23rd, at 11 a.m., at Wallkill Cemetery, 160 Midway Road. Middletown, NY. Burial will be in the family plot where Alba will be laid to rest surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
