Darlene Walrond

Darlene Walrond, 62, went home to the Lord on September 16th, 2023, at the Friedwald Center in New City, NY. She was the beloved mother of three children and a devoted wife to Frank Walrond. They shared over 30 years of partnership together. Born in the Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of Harriet and Henry Green. Later in life, she attended Adelphi University, Lehman College, and Mercy College. In college is where she built some of her most sincere and lifelong friendships. Always a hard worker, Darlene consistently contributed to the workforce. She was multitalented and boasted a variety of careers, finding purpose in her work as a social worker in shelters, a dancer, a model, a banker, an entrepreneur, and even a published writer. Darlene never limited herself to one path and followed her dreams wherever they took her. She was a dedicated child of God and used her faith as a tool to protect and serve others, without judgment. She believed that God protects everyone, no matter where they’re from, what they look like, or how often they visit church. She especially appreciated the preachings of Bishop Derek Price and Pastor Jean Price at the Bethel Christian Church in Massapequa, NY. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, botany, cooking and baking, and savoring her favorite foods! One of the passions she enjoyed most was writing. She frequently wrote extraordinary poems and essays throughout her life, often receiving well-deserved praise for her work. The same was true of her incredible dishes. People in her life frequently delighted in her masterful meals and indulged in her irresistible baked treats. Darlene will be remembered for her tenacious strength, her ever-flowing kindness, and her captivating sense of humor. Her selflessness and contagious joyfulness, along with her youthful energy, brought untold happiness to anyone she met. She was unfathomably compassionate and put her family and friends above all. She kept the people she loved as a focal point in everything she did. Her beautiful soul shone a light on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She’ll never be forgotten by her children Tyreek, Tamara, Tierra, and their spouses, as well as her husband Frank. Darlene’s effervescent presence will be remembered by all of her loved ones, and through the future generations of her family. Darlene’s Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, in the Martinez-Morse Funeral Home at 33 Railroad Ave, Middletown, NY 10940. The service will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Please wear light and bright colors to represent the illumination she brought to our lives. While flower arrangements are welcome and immensely appreciated, in the spirit of Darlene’s generosity, we also invite you to donate on her behalf.
