H. Daniel "Danny" Howell

H. Daniel "Danny" Howell, 77, passed away on July 27, 2024, in Middletown, NY. He was born on March 2, 1947, in New York, NY, and was a lifelong resident of the state. Danny graduated from Charles Evans Hughes High School in 1963 and later attended SUNY Orange. He proudly served in the US Army Airborne during the Vietnam War, a testament to his bravery and dedication to his country. Professionally, Danny was a man of many talents. He was an accomplished author, known for his insightful and compelling narratives. Additionally, he worked as a hypnotherapist, helping many to find healing and peace. Danny also dedicated part of his career to counseling the disabled and ended his professional journey as a bus driver, touching the lives of many in his community. Danny will be remembered for his humorous, caring, and giving nature. He was soft-spoken yet stubborn, especially about his name, a trait that endeared him to his family and friends. He was a pillar in his community, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. He is survived by his loving wife, Estrella “Starr” Howell; his children, Daniel “Jason” Howell and his wife Virginia “Ginny”, Christopher Howell and his wife Natasha, and Delyce Howell; his sister, Karmen Dopslaff and her husband Ullie; and his seven grandchildren, Daniel Jr, Dalton, Jared, Jaxon, Adin, Averie, and Hannah. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Danny was preceded in death by his father Herbert Howell, mother Nevada Murlick, stepfather Raymond Murlick, and sisters Linda Howell and Jeanette Braxton and her husband, Paul Braxton, as well as his niece Nancy Braxton, and brother John Newton. Visitation will be held at Martinez and Morse Funeral Home, 33 Railroad Ave, Middletown, NY, on Thursday, August 1st from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. A funeral mass will be held in his honor on Friday at 11am at Mount Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Ave, Middletown, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to organizations supporting veterans and the Elks, causes that were close to Danny's heart. Danny's commitment to his community and country will not be forgotten, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
