John Anthony Dutkiewicz, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 2, 2026, in Loch Sheldrake, NY. Born on December 15, 1947, in Paisley Scotland, Johnny greeted everyone with his thick broque, "Hey brother, Long time no see, I care for you." He was known for his fun-loving nature, always ready to engage and make friends, deeply cherishing his family and community. John emigrated to the US in 1957, attended school in Pine Bush, NY, and dedicated 30 years of hard work as a Senior Dishwasher and Busboy at Orange County Community College in Middletown, NY, where he was a beloved figure among colleagues and students alike. John was always cooperative and resilient as he lived in 16 different homes with various levels of assistance due to his developmental disability. His accomplishments, independence, and never-ending loyalty to family were inspirational. Everyone John touched, witnessed the meaning of kindness, patience, understanding, and unconditional love. He lived in the moment, and made people feel special and loved. John was passionate about music. Wearing his headphones, bopping and tapping while enjoying tunes from The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Beach Boys, Bee Gees, 50's, 60's and 70's, Jazz, Jennifer Lopez and so much more. He spent his free time dancing, singing, jigsaw puzzling, caring for beloved pets, shopping, and traveling. Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, John, aka "Troublemaker", loved being teased and telling stories. His favorite foods included hamburgers, shrimp, Polish stuffed cabbage, Irish stew, cheesecake, and shortbread with a "cuppa tea." John is survived by his brother Gerald Dutkiewicz; sister Mary Andreozzi and brother-in-law Tom Andreozzi; nieces Maria Vilandry (Hayes), Christina Marino (Chris), and Kelly Andreozzi; grandnephews Valentino Vilandry, Brodie Vilandry, Jaxon Rudy; and grandniece Presley Rudy. He also leaves behind many Convery cousins worldwide. He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond F. Convery, Mother Isabelle Convery Dutkiewicz, and Father Janusz Dutkiewicz. Much thanks to all staff at New Hope Community and the medical team at Garnet Heath Medical Center in Harris, NY. Your compassion and care are greatly appreciated. A celebration of Johnny's life will be held over the summer, honoring his joyful and loving spirit.
