Patricia A. Kuszek

Patricia A. Kuszek entered into eternal rest on March 16, 2023, at the age of 72. The daughter of the late Stanley and Rose Kuszek, she was born on March 12, 1951, in Middletown, NY. She remained a lifelong resident up until her passing. Patricia, or “Patty” as many of her loved ones called her, is survived by her nephew and Godson Adam Nyhof; cousins Linda “Cookie” Dickinson, Crystle Dickinson-Wall, Michael Dickinson; and her cousin, and second Godson Daniel Wall. Patricia was also predeceased by her beloved sister Rosemary and brother Walter. Patricia attended Saint Joseph’s Catholic School throughout her elementary and middle school years, and graduated from Middletown High School. She continued her studies at Orange County Community College, where she graduated from their nursing program. Upon graduating from a class of eight aspiring nurses, Patricia began a career that best represented her spirit – a career in service to others as a multi-faceted nurse within the Sullivan County Public Health System. In over 30 years of service, Patricia impacted countless lives and left a lasting legacy in the region. Family was a vital part of Patricia's life. She cherished family gatherings which took place originally at her childhood home on North Street in Middletown, and later, at her sister Rosemary's house in Scotchtown. No gathering was complete without Patty's decorative touch. Patricia was certainly the creative genius in the family. Nothing made her happier than bringing others joy with her creations. One of her most stunning creative achievements was the intricate construction of Barbie clothes for her dear sister Rosemary. It brought the both of them great joy and happiness up until the very end of their lives. Patty also had another family that had a very special part in her life – her fur family. She had great love and appreciation for all animals, and she loved taking care of any in need. Patricia had two pet birds during her life (Jessie and Stupid) and a plethora of cats she cared for over the years. She also must have had some sort of honing beacon for stray cats. Throughout her life, stray cats would seek her out no matter the distance they needed to travel. Patty would take in each and every one, providing them the care they desperately needed. She even had a schedule for when they would go off and explore during the warmer months and when she'd expect them back for winter. Patricia was also a prolific horticulturist and spent great time and effort on growing awe-inspiring, vibrant gardens for herself and the ones she loved. Her process was the perfect blend of love and creativity. Those were her guiding principles in life (Love and Creativity). A public visitation will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023, from 9am-10:30am at Martinez-Morse Funeral Home, 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown NY, 10940. Following the visitation, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY 10940 on Monday, March 27, at 11am. The Rite of Committal and burial will take place immediately after the Funeral Mass at Saint Joseph’s Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hudson Valley SPCA.
