Theresia E. Perna

Theresia E. Perna, 91, of Middletown, NY, passed away Tuesday, July 21st, at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare, Utica, Oneida County. She was 91. The 10th child of 13 children Theresia was born in Tilburg, Noord Brabant, The Netherlands, on March 16, 1924, a daughter of the late Arnoldus Petrus and Maria Wilhemina Cornelia Vinks Waijers. She was predeceased by the love of her life George W. Perna Sr. in 1992, whom she was married to for 38 years. She left behind her four beautiful, cherished children; George W Perna Jr and his wife Diana, of Middletown; Theresa M. Perna, wife of Paul Giardino, of Whitesboro; Marie L. Perna, wife of John Colaruotolo, of Fairport; Paul F. Perna, of Middletown; seven grandchildren Alana, wife of Graham Caston, of Fairport; Andrew Colaruotolo, of Fairport; Nina, wife of Peter Doyle, of Fairport; Shawn Giardino and his wife Amelia, of Lake View; Timothy Giardino and his wife Sacchia of Harker Heights, TX; Mike Lawson, of Norfolk, VA; Dr. Caitlin Lawson , of Baton Rouge, LA; two Great Granddaughters Ally Giardino, and Bella Giardino, of Harker Heights TX; her sister Paula Waijers, of The Netherlands; 2 sisters in law Jean Decker, of Asheville, NC; and Mien Waijers, of The Netherlands; three godchildren Eric Verslappen of New Zealand, Theresa King of Australia and Laura Whitestedes of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven brothers Louis, Johan, Francis, Joseph, Hans, Frans and Arnold, and four sisters Maria, Lizette, Annie and Margareth. She left behind many cherished friends at St Joseph's Catholic Church of which she was a devout member Mulberry House, Catholic Daughters of America, Court Rosemary, The Altar Rosary Society and the American Legion Post 151 Ladies Auxiliary Middletown, NY 10940. Friends are invited to call on Friday July 24th from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM with Catholic Daughters services at 7:45 PM followed by prayer services at Morse Funeral Home Inc., 33 Railroad Ave, Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Joseph Church, Middletown, NY, at 11 AM on Saturday, July 25th, with Father Dennis Nikolic officiating.
